Late news: the 2009 Riesling just won a Trophy for the Best Young Riesling at the New South Wales wine awards - one of the top 40 wines in New South Wales!
We were very chuffed when we gained a Silver medal for our 2008 Barbera. It is now on sale at our cellar door, where you can try before you buy. A lovely wine to chill in summer, or to enjoy with your pasta and pizza in winter. It was also in the list of the top Canberra District wines as judged by the Gourmet Traveller Wine - one you really need to get into for summer drinking as it can be chilled.
Our Drink on Premises Authorisation has come through, and we can now offer wine by the glass with your meal. So many people have asked us whether we could do it, and now we can! Thank you to all those who have waited so patiently. Of course, if you prefer, you can still buy a bottle.
From February, we will be opening the cafe on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as well as the weekend. We are also providing Gourmet Dinners which you can order ahead and pick up before 6.30pm or have delivered.
We sell some of the products we use in the Cafe if you would like to take some home and use, or give to friends - they make lovely gifts. La Barre at Yass has a range of products including Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Infused Oils and Blood Plum Finishing Vinegar and they are delicious. We also have Walsh's Homemade Strawberry Jam from Boorowa which is perfect with scones and cream - the best strawberry jam you have ever tasted! With the cooler weather, we now have Robyn Rowe's locally made chocolates - mmmmm - need we say more! Well yes, Robyn won a Gold Medal for her chocolates at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Fantastic for a small chocolatier from Murrumbateman.
Truffles are over sadly, we will have to wait till next winter.
